After first seeing this Pottery Barn shelf I was madly in love! However , the whopping price had me rethinking if I really wanted to spend that kind of money , when we had just purchased a darling beach cottage in /Washington, that needed lots of TLC. The previous owners had left a lot of their original furniture which we were grateful for because it allowed us to concentrate our budget on things like repainting the exterior which it desperately needed.
The second bedroom had an ugly queen size bookshelf head board that we knew wasn't going to work for us. My husband decided to dismantle the wood for his stock pile for future use.
When he asked me what I wanted for my birthday, pulled out my pictures of the Pottery Barn Shelves and asked him if he could make some for me. He reused the wood from the dismantled headboard , Free Yay! Free is always good ! Thing only cost was the dentil molding, which was $35.00 I ended up with four at the beach house picture below is our master at the Endless Summer , Very first picture is our guest bedroom at our main residence in Oregon. Needless to say I have beach fever . My husband's pieces mean so much more to me than I could have ever imagined! I love them !!!
